Man dies and another seriously injured after car leaves M90 and hits tree

A man has died and another has been left seriously injured following a crash on the M90 in Fife.

The northbound lanes of the motorway were closed following the accident on Sunday morning.

A car is understood to have left the road and hit a tree near Kelty around 7.15am.

Police Scotland have confirmed one man died in the crash while another was taken to hospital in Edinburgh.

One vehicle was involved and the road is expected to remain closed into the evening as an investigation is carried out

The force said: "Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area this morning and witnessed the collision to come forward quoting incident number 1207 of May 26."
