Man dies and another in hospital after two-car crash on A470 near Llandudno

A man has died following a crash in north Wales, police have confirmed.

The two-vehicle collision happened on the A470 in Conwy at around 3.45pm on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash, involving a white Volkswagen and a black Volkswagen, which occurred near the Bodysgallen Hall Hotel around two miles south of Llandudno.

The man driving the white Volkswagen, who police say was believed to be in his 70s and local to the area, died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

North Wales Police is now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Raymond Williams of the force’s roads policing unit said: “We offer our profound sympathies to the family of the man involved.

“We urge anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or anybody who was travelling along the A470 near to the scene of the collision and who has dashcam footage, to contact us immediately.

“The road remains closed at this time and diversions are in place and I would like to thank road users for their patience and understanding.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact North Wales Police by calling 101 quoting incident number Z153572.
