Man dies after vehicle goes on fire after being hit by truck on M11 in Co Wexford

A man has tragically died after the vehicle he was driving was hit by a truck in Co Wexford.

Gardai arrested a man, aged in his 50s, after the incident

The victim's vehicle went on fire after the collision on the M11.

The body of the driver, who is in his 30s and was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital.

The horror smash happened at around 2.10pm on Saturday afternoon. The man who was driving the truck was not injured.

The man who was arrested is being detained at Gorey Garda Station.

A spokeswoman said: "The road has since reopened and the mans body has been removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital where a postmortem is expected to take place tomorrow.

"Gardaí are appealing to motorists with Dash Cam footage, travelling from Camolin towards the M11 Northbound to Clogh, Gorey, between 1.50pm and 2.15pm, to contact Gorey Garda Station on 053 9430690, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any Garda station."
