Man dies after tree falls on car in Co Antrim

A man has died after his car was hit by a falling tree in Co Antrim today.

Police closed a section of the Dublin Road, Antrim, at the junctions with Oldstone Hill, Tirgracy Road and Deerpark Road on Friday, November 26, following an incident.

It has now been confirmed that a man has died after the car that he was driving was struck by a falling tree.

The Dublin Road remains closed in borth directions at this time and diversions have been put in place.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police can confirm that a man has died after the car he was driving was struck by a falling tree on the Dublin Road in Antrim on Friday 26th November. The Dublin Road remains closed in both directions at this time and diversions are in place. There are no further details at present."

It comes as Storm Arwen has seen winds of up to 75mph hit Northern Ireland.

A number of trees are reported to have fallen down across NI, causing disruption on the roads.
