Man dies after street attack in Nottingham city centre

A 26-year-old man has died following an assault in Nottingham city centre. Cordons were put in place by officers at the junction of Upper Parliament Street and Trinity Walk after the incident at around 3.35am on Saturday 5 March.

The victim died in hospital last night (Thursday 17 March 2022) and the investigation into his death remains ongoing. Officers had previously charged a 21-year-old man with grievous bodily harm. He is due to next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 6 April. Following extensive enquiries officers have now arrested another man in relation to the incident. A 17-year-old boy, who was also arrested on Tuesday 8 March on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent, has been bailed with conditions while the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Steve Wragg, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I would firstly on behalf of the police service like to send my sincere condolences to the victim’s family at this incredibly sad and difficult time. Our officers are continuing to offer support to the man’s family and friends and will continue to do so during this difficult time.

“I would also like to thank members of the public who came forward following our appeals for more information and their time in helping us with our enquiries. Following our investigations, we have now arrested another man in connection with this incident but our enquires are still ongoing and a team of officers and detectives will carry on investigating the incident until those responsible are brought to justice.

“This remains an ongoing investigation and any information may be of great importance to our enquiries. We would again ask for anyone with any information to come forward and get in touch.”
