Man dies after 'serious assault' in Connah's Quay, Flintshire

A man has died following a "serious assault" in north Wales late on Saturday afternoon, police have said.

He was flown to hospital by air ambulance from the incident, which happened in the Dock Road area of Connah's Quay, Flintshire.

Police were called just after 5pm and stayed in the area for some time afterwards to carry out investigative work.

On Saturday, Detective Chief Inspector Jackie Downes said there was "no reason to believe that there is any on-going risk to the public and a number of arrests have been made".

Two hours later, North Wales Police released an updated statement to say the injured male had died in Aintree Hospital, Liverpool.

It said: "Sadly we can confirm that the man who was taken to hospital following an incident in Connah's Quay earlier today, has died. Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident and all three currently remain in police custody."

Detectives have appealed for anyone in the area around the time to get in touch.
