A man has died after police were called an apartment block in Manchester on Sunday afternoon (October 30). Police and paramedics were called to a concern for the welfare of a male at a property on Graver Lane, Newton Heath.
The man, thought to be in his 40s, died a short time later. A man was also arrested at the scene, with an investigation underway to establish his cause of death.
Numerous police vehicles were stationed outside the building, thought to be a block of flats, on Sunday night, with crime scene investigators seen examining a room on the ground floor. The entrance to the apartments was taped off, with detectives also conducting enquiries.
Police say they have now launched an investigation, and are working to identify the male and inform his next of kin. Further details about the incident remain unknown at this time, and anyone with information that could assist the ongoing enquiries is being urged to contact police.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "We’re investigating the death of a man at an address on Graver Lane, Manchester, today (30 October). We were called at 12.15pm by colleagues from NWAS to a report of concern for the welfare of a man.
"Sadly, the man – believed to be aged in his 40s – died a short time later. We are working to identify and inform his next of kin. A man was arrested at the scene and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances that caused the man’s death."
