A man has died after falling from the upper floor of a south London department store.
The unnamed man fell from a significant height inside the Debenhams at St Nicholas Shopping Centre in Sutton.
The London Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene at around 4:15pm on Tuesday but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man is believed to have jumped from the top level of the four-floor shop, the Sutton Guardian reported.
A woman who was with her children in the store at the time of the incident told the newspaper: "I still am shocked my children were with me and saw what happened.
"I was helping my daughter try some shoes when the lady came and said can you please tell your son 'don't watch'.”
She said she did not know what to say to her son after he said he would have nightmares about what he saw later that night.
Tearful staff were seen leaving the shop as it was closed and cordoned off by police.
In a statement, the London Metropolitan police said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
