Man dies after motorbike crashes into barrier

A man has died after his motorcycle crashed into a barrier at the side of a road in mid Wales. The incident happened on Sunday morning between the villages of Llanfihangel Nant Melan and New Radnor in Powys.

The one-vehicle collision resulted in the road being closed for more than six hours and the rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital. Police confirmed on Monday that he died of his injuries. You can get the latest WalesOnline newsletters e-mailed to you directly for free by signing up here.

The man has not been named and no further details have been released, but police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward as they investigate the collision.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We attended a single-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred at about 9.35am, Sunday July 3, on the A44 between LLanfihangel Nant Melan and New Radnor. A red Ducatti Panigale motorcycle collided with a road barrier. The male rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital where he sadly passed away.

"The road was closed and reopened at 4pm. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, either online, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101."
