Man dies after Lake Tuggeranong bicycle collision

A 70-year-old man has died following a bicycle collision in Canberra's south.

The man is the eighth person to die on ACT roads this year.

ACT police said the 70-year-old man and a 45-year-old man, who was also cycling, collided on a bike path around Lake Tuggeranong on Tuesday, just after 11.20am.

Following the collision, the 70-year-old collapsed and was given medical attention by passers-by.

The man was taken to Canberra Hospital by ambulance, but died soon after, a police spokesman said.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Anyone with information about the incident has been urged to speak with investigators.
