Man dies after incident on railway line near Darlington

A man has died after an incident on the railway line near Darlington.

Emergency services attended the scene just before 11.50am on Monday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

British Transport Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the authority said: "Sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Rail replacement buses were in place as CrossCountry, London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and Transpennine Express services between Darlington and Newcastle faced delays of up to 110 minutes.
