A man has tragically died after a house fire in Waterford city.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at Ballytruckle Court in Waterford city at around 4.30am.
Firefighters from the Waterford fire service got the fire under control but the body of a man was found in the house.
It is believed that the tragic man was aged in his early 80s.
The man was given emergency medical attention at the scene but was pronounced dead.
His body was taken to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will take place.
Gardai are investigating all the circumstance around the fire but it is believed that there wasn't anything suspicious.
