A man has tragically died in a horror three vehicle crash on a busy East Lothian road after one of the motors burst into flames.
The 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene after his black BMW collided with two agricultural vehicles at around 4.15pm yesterday.
Police, paramedics and fire crews were called to the A199, near Foxlake Adventures, before closing the road for more than 12 hours.
A picture from the area showed thick, black smoke billowing into the air from the crash site while fire crews attempted to put out the blaze.
One other driver was treated for a minor injury following the accident.
Crash investigators are now appealing for anyone with dash cam footage from the area and who may have seen the BMW to come forward.
Sergeant Kosmas Papakyriakou said: “Sadly, as a result of this crash a man lost his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.
“I would ask anyone who saw the vehicles immediately prior to the crash, specifically the BMW, to come forward.
“I would also ask anyone who may have been recording with dash-cam at the location to check their footage and provide anything relevant to us as soon as possible.
“Those with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 2254 of Thursday, 9 June, 2022.”
The road, which was closed for a collision investigation to be carried out, re-opened at around 6am on Friday, 10 June.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 16:15 on 9 June 2022 to attend an incident on the A199 near Foxlake Adventures, East Lothian.
“An ambulance and two of our special operations response teams (SORT) were sent to the scene.”
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
