Queensland Police are treating the death of a man on Palm Island off Townsville as suspicious, after being found with a serious head injury.
Emergency services were called to a Creek street address about 9.25am on Thursday where a 64-year-old Palm Island local was found inside his own home injured, and later died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicate the death as recent with a crime scene declared and forensic examiners flown to the island.
"It was determined that it wasn't a death from natural causes," Detective Acting Inspector Dean Cavanagh said.
"The next step of the investigation is that scene will be thoroughly investigated and processed. And we'll be looking for any evidence whatsoever that will determine what led to the death and what occurred during the death."
Police are asking for any Palm Island residents to come forward with any information that may assist their investigations.
