Man dies after he is hit by car in north Leeds

A man has died after he was hit by a car in north Leeds.

The pedestrian, who was in his 60s, was hit by a pink Fiat 500 on Gledhow Valley Road, near to the junction with Harrogate Road, at around 1pm on Saturday, December 21.

He was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary with life threatening injuries and died shortly after he arrived.

West Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses and information.

Sergeant Carl Quinn, of the Major Collision and Enquiry Team, said: “This has clearly been a very serious incident and we are appealing for witnesses to what took place.

“I would ask anyone who we have not already spoken with who saw the collision or who has dashcam footage of it to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team.

"We would also like to speak with anyone who saw the man who died or the car involved just prior to the incident.

“Road closures are expected to be in place for some time and I would urge drivers to bear with us and avoid the area while we conduct necessary enquiries there.

“Anyone who has information is asked to contact Major Collision and Enquiry Team on 101, referencing police log 0944 of 21 12 2019.”
