A 13-year-old girl called police Thursday to report a domestic fight that escalated into an apparent murder-suicide involving two adults in a Brighton Park home.

Investigators believe a man fatally stabbed a woman before stabbing himself and jumping from a second-floor window, Chicago police said.

The woman was identified as 37-year-old Maria Saleski by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The attack happened about 9:50 a.m. in the 4400 block of South Sawyer Avenue in the presence of at least two children, police said.

As the man and woman argued, the man took a knife and stabbed the woman twice in her chest as she sat on a couch, police said.

The 31-year-old man then stabbed himself in the chest and neck before jumping from a window, police said.

During the attack, the 13-year-old girl told a dispatcher that someone was stabbing the woman, and that the person now said he would stab himself, police said.

Officers found the man outside, speaking incoherently and badly hurt, police said.

Inside, officers found the woman covered in blood on the floor, police said.

Paramedics brought them both to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, police and fire officials said.

Saleski lived in the same block where the stabbing happened, the medical examiner’s office said.

The man’s name has not been released.

Autopsies for the two were scheduled.
