A man has died after having both his ears sliced off in a machete attack in Lancashire.
Sajed Choudry sustained a number of serious injuries during the violent attack on him and his son, Ahsan, on 27 November.
Police were called at 10.35pm to a "large scale disturbance" in Rhyl Avenue in Blackburn and found the father-of-four at the scene.
He had been left with a collapsed right lung and a bleed on the brain and was unable to breathe on his own.
Mr Choudry underwent a 14-hour surgery to reattach his ears, a procedure which used a skin graft from his legs.
The 43-year-old had been in a coma before he died on Thursday.
A postmortem examination will be conducted in due course, a spokesperson from Lancashire Police said.
The attack also left Ahsan Choudry, the victim's 24-year-old son, with serious injuries from which he is recovering.
Another son, Mohsan Choudry, was excused from a court appearance on Wednesday after magistrates heard that his father was gravely ill.
The 20-year-old faces charges of possession of a knife and damaging a car tyre.
Mariya Choudry, the victim's daughter, previously said that the family were in shock over the attack.
Rafaqat Ali, Fazal Ilahi, and Sadaqat Ali had earlier been charged with attempted murder.
A 13-year-old boy was also handed the same charge. He cannot be identified for legal reasons.
All are due to appear at Preston Crown Court on Monday 17 December.
