A man has died after 'getting into trouble' while swimming in a reservoir near Glossop.
Emergency services launched a search operation at Torside Reservoir at around 10pm last night after reports of a man getting into difficultly in the water.
Police, fire crews and mountain rescue teams were at the scene.
Sadly, the body of a man was found this morning.
Formal identification has not taken place yet but his family have been informed, police said.
A file in relation to this death will now be passed to the coroner.
In a statement, a Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "The force was called to reports that a man had got into trouble while swimming in the Torside Reservoir, near Tintwistle, at 10pm last night (22 July).
"Officers, along with colleagues from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue and Mountain Rescue, began a search for the man.
"This morning the body of the man was recovered.
"His family have been made aware and our thoughts are with them at this time.
"Formal identification is yet to take place.
"A file is now being prepared for the coroner."
In a statement issued earlier today, a spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said:" At 22:10 hours yesterday, 22 July 2021, crews from Glossop, Buxton and Greater Manchesters Hyde Fire Station, attended Torside Reservoir, alongside Emergency Service partners, after reports of a man in the water.
"The incident has now been handed over the Derbyshire police."
