
A man has died after a fire at a block of flats in east London.
London Fire Brigade tackled the blaze that damaged a small part of the first-floor home on Darndale Close, Walthamstow at 7am on Monday.
The male was taken from the Priory Court estate to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead the following day.
Two people left the building before LFB arrived.
The brigade was called at 7.08am and control officers mobilised crews from Walthamstow and surrounding stations to the scene. It had been extinguished by 8.15am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, a spokesman said.
London Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 7.10am to reports of an incident on Darndale Close, Walthamstow.
“We sent resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a clinical team manager and paramedics from our hazardous area response team.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a patient and took them to hospital.”
