A man tragically fell to his death as he worked on a house in Aintree.
Emergency services rushed to the address on School Lane just after 9am on Thursday.
They found a man who had suffered a serious head injury.
He died at the scene. Residents said the man had been working at height, but it is unclear if he was on the roof.
Neighbours said the man was married with three children.
Detectives from Merseyside Police are probing the case, which has also been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.
A spokeswoman for the Northwest Ambulance Service said they had sent a road ambulance, the air ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and an advanced paramedic to the scene, near to the Blue Anchor pub.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm we were called to an incident in Aintree on Thursday, December 12.
"Emergency services were called to a residential premises on School Lane at around 9.10am, to reports a man who had been working at the house had sustained a serious head injury following a fall.
"He was later pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
"An investigation is being carried out by detectives and the Health and Safety Executive.
"The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time."
