Man dies after falling onto busy Scottish city centre street

A MAN has died after he fell onto a street in Edinburgh’s city centre.

Emergency services were called to Dublin Street in the Scottish capital at around 3pm on Tuesday following a report of a man who had fallen.

Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and that they do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances.

According to local reports, the street was taped off while a blue tent was erected under nearby scaffolding.

Police added that the health and safety watchdog has been notified and that a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, we received a report that a man had fallen on Dublin Street, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances.

“The Health and Safety Executive has been informed and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
