A man who collapsed during a Parkrun has tragically died, police confirmed.
The runner was taken ill at the weekly event at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough.
The North East Ambulance Service was sent to the scene shortly before 10am on Saturday.
But the man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Organisers of the event confirmed his family had been notified as messages of support poured in from Parkrun events across the UK.
One park goer described the response as 'amazing'.

"They worked together to support the patient," she posted. "You were all wonderful. My condolences to the gentleman's family."
The Stewart Parkrun released a statement confirming there had been a "medical emergency" and thanked those in the park for helping at the scene.
A spokesman added: "It is with great sadness that I am able to confirm that the runner involved in the medical emergency has died.
We are unable to identify the runner at this time but can provide assurances that his family are aware.
"Once again I would like to thank all involved in assisting.
Parkrun do have support services and if anyone feels like they would benefit from these please do not hesitate to get in touch. Our thoughts are everyone touched by this incident."
Cleveland Police said: "Officers attended but sadly the man was declared dead shortly afterwards.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and our thoughts and sympathy are with his family and friends at this very difficult time."
The Parkrun is a popular 5k timed running event which was founded in the UK in 2004.
Now it takes place at 1,400 locations in 22 countries across five continents.
