A man has died after falling from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle
Police were called to the Quayside around 9.20am on Monday after reports of a man falling from the bridge.
Officers attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, with enquiries now ongoing to trace his next of kin.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At 9.20am on Monday, police received a report that a man had fallen from the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle.
“Emergency services attended however, sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and contact his next of kin.
“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report is being prepared for the coroner.”
