Man dies after falling from Manchester city centre multi-storey car park

A man has died after falling from a city centre multi-storey car park.

Pictures from the scene show a section of Southgate, behind Kendals off Deansgate, cordoned off.

It's thought the man, in his 40s, fell from the nearby King Street car park.

A passing police patrol was alerted to the incident by paramedics at around 8.45pm on Friday.

Despite the medics' best efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness said drivers who had parked in the multi-storey were being allowed inside the cordon to get to their vehicles.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "At around 8.45pm yesterday (Friday, April 16) passing patrols were alerted by the ambulance service to a concern for the welfare of a man on Deansgate, Manchester.

"Despite the best work of paramedics, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a file will be passed to the coroner."
