Man dies after falling from building onto Edinburgh street

A man has died after falling from a building onto an Edinburgh street.

The 73-year-old fell from height onto East Market Street in Edinburgh at about 4.40pm on Friday afternoon.

Paramedics were called to the incident but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are treating the death as non-suspicious.

In a tweet, police said the street was closed off "following a report of a person falling from a building.

The tweet added: "Officers remain at the scene and the public are asked to avoid the area."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a 73-year-old man has died following an incident on East Market Street, Edinburgh on 14 June. This is being treated as a non-suspicious death."
