A man has died after falling from a building in Rochdale town centre.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Yorkshire Street at around 9.10am this morning (Monday).
The man fell from a building near the Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre, police said.
He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A police cordon remains in place near the shopping centre this afternoon.
A walkway has been taped off near Butterworth's with police officers standing guard at the scene.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 9.10am on Monday 18 January police attended an incident where a man had fallen from Exchange Square on Yorkshire Street, Rochdale.
"The man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"Initial enquiries are ongoing."
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the incident.
"We mobilised a number of resources including an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, an advanced paramedic and an air ambulance", the spokesperson said.
"We haven't taken anyone to hospital."
