Man dies after emergency services called to village on Nottinghamshire border

A man has died after police and the ambulance service were called out to an emergency in the village of Wymeswold, on the Nottinghamshire border.

Police said they were called by the ambulance services to reports that a man had been taken ill in Brook Street.

Police officers attended but the man died a short time later.

The death is not being treated as suspicious - and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 10.14am on 16 November to a medical emergency in Brook Street, Wymeswold.

"We sent a doctor in a car, two community first responders, a paramedic in a car and a crewed ambulance.”

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "At 10.20am a call was received from the East Midlands Ambulance Service stating that a man had taken ill in Brook Street, Wymeswold.

"Officers attended, but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. Identification of the deceased is a matter for HM Coroner."
