Man dies after emergency services called to Merseyside street

A man has died after emergency services were called to a Merseyside street.

Police and ambulance crews were called to Scarisbrick New Road in Southport after reports of a concern for safety at around 8.20pm yesterday.

On social media, people reported "lots of police and ambulance in the road."

One reported police were "outside flats on that road," with the area cordoned off.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We can confirm that an investigation is ongoing into the unexplained death of a man in Southport yesterday, Sunday 16 August.

"At around 8.20pm, emergency services were called to Scarisbrick New Road to the report of a concern for safety.


"A man in his 30s was found at the location, taken to hospital and was sadly pronounced dead at hospital around an hour later.

"His death is currently being treated as unexplained but is not thought to be suspicious.

"Enquiries continue at the scene this morning, Monday 17 August."
