Man dies after emergency sea rescue in Swansea Bay

Emergency services were called to an incident on a boat in Swansea Bay, where a man collapsed and died.

Police, ambulance and coastguard crews responded to the incident mid afternoon on Monday.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.

An RNLI lifeboat from Mumbles was launched following an emergency call, and a coastguard search and rescue helicopter from St Athan also attended.

The 60-year-old casualty was brought back to shore by the lifeboat, where he was met by an  ambulance from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: “We were called by HM Coastguard to assist with a report of a collapsed man on a boat at about 5pm on Monday, March 30.

“The 60-year-old man sadly died.

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and it has been referred to the HM Coroner”.
