Man dies after Dublin city centre crash as gardai lock down scene

A man has died following a crash in the heart of Dublin.

The driver and sole occupant of a white car was rushed by ambulance to St Vincent's University Hospital following a collision on Lad Lane, near Baggot Street, at around 10.45am this morning.

He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

A heavy Garda presence was seen around the scene, which is near the Department of Health, and in the surrounding area as a forensic team carried out an examination this afternoon.

The road has been closed off and diversions are in place, gardai said.

Gardai in Pearse Street are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses or any road users who may have dash cam footage or general camera footage to make it available to them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 016669000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
