Officers warn that locals will notice a heavy police presence in the area while their work continues - but they insist there is no risk to the wider public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 42-year-old man has died following a disturbance at a property on Falside Crescent in Bathgate, which was reported to police around 8pm on Monday, 5 July.

"A 32-year-old has been arrested in connection with the death and enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.

"Local residents will notice a police presence in the area while this work continues.

"However, our enquiries so far have established this was a contained event and there was no risk to the wider public."
