Man dies after crashing into parked lorry in Westcountry as police launch appeal

A man died after crashing with a parked lorry yesterday evening (May 20). Avon and Somerset Police was called to the A303 shortly before 7pm.

Officers rushed to the scene alongside fire crews and paramedics. Sadly, the sole occupant of a black Skoda Citigo was pronounced dead.

Police say the vehicle collided with a lorry which was parked and unattended in a layby near Ilchester. The man's next of kin have been informed.

Investigating officers are now appealing for information on the fatal crash. They are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has relevant dash cam footage.

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement: "We’d like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or has any information or dashcam footage of the car in the moments beforehand.

"If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223117751, or complete our online appeals form."
