A 38-year-old man died after a vehicle crash Saturday on Interstate 94 near Fuller Park on the South Side.

About 12:30 a.m., Stephen Medina was driving a Honda CR-V south on I-94, when he lost control near 47th Street, and struck a concrete barrier on the left side of the road, according to Illinois State police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The impact from the crash caused the SUV to veer across the interstate and strike the concrete barrier on the right side of the road.

Medina was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but later died, state police said. A 26-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and a 2-year-old girl was taken for an evaluation.

All southbound lanes on I-94 at 47th Street were close for an investigation about 12:45 a.m., but reopened about 3:25 a.m., state police said.
