Man dies after crash between lorry and pedestrian on M1

A man has died after a crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian on the M1.

The northbound carriageway was closed at around 6.50am on Friday, April 9, after the incident between junction 19, Catthorpe, and junction 20, Lutterworth.

Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were all called to the motorway following the crash.

The pedestrian, a man in his 60s, died at the scene. His family have been informed.

No other injuries were reported and police say inquiries currently remain ongoing at the scene.

Road closures have been put in place and are likely to remain in place throughout the morning to allow initial inquiries to be completed.

Detective Constable John Borlase, from Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died in this collision.

"We are carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident including speaking to people at the scene.

“Anyone who was driving in the area this morning and who has any information which could help our enquiries should get in touch if you have not already done so. If you have any dashcam footage which could assist us, you should also make contact.”

Anyone with any information should call 101 quoting incident 71 of 9 April.
