Man dies after collapsing on bus in Trafford

A man has died after collapsing on a bus in Trafford.

Paramedics were called to Stockport Road, in Timperley, at 10.30am this morning (Wednesday) following reports of a person having collapsed.

Police officers also attended the scene an hour later.

The man, who was in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was temporarily closed between Shaftesbury Avenue and Park Road while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Greater Manchester Police say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man's death.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Stockport Road was reopened by 2pm.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Officers were called by colleagues from NWAS to a report of concern for a man on a bus on Stockport Road just after 11.30am today (30 December 2020).

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 80s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The road was temporarily closed whilst emergency services attended.

"There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and a report is being prepared for the Coroner."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance said: "We received a call at 10.32am to Stockport Road to reports of a person who had collapsed and we dispatched an ambulance and rapid response vehicle."
