Man dies after being struck by train in Glasgow

A man has tragically died after being struck by a train in Glasgow.

The incident happened at Hillington East station at 6.08am this morning (Friday, October 15) with emergency services rushing to the scene soon after.

British Transport Police (BTP) has told the Daily Record that they attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

ScotRail confirmed the incident and closed the rail line, with all services cancelled.

A tweet from the rail operator read: "Sadly, we’ve had reports of a person being struck by a train between Paisley Gilmour Street and Glasgow Central. We've had to close all lines while we support the emergency services."

All lines were reopened at around 9am.

A BTP spokeswoman told the Record: "Officers were called to Hillington East station at 6.08am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
