St Neots: Man dies after being shot by police officer in Cambridgeshire

A man has been shot to death by police officers after what is believed to have been a stand-off outside a house in Cambridgeshire.

The unidentified man was killed after officers were called to the scene on duck Lane, St Neots, at about 7.45pm on Wednesday.

The man was shot just after 8pm by a firearms officer, according to a statement from Cambridgeshire Police. The man, thought to be in his 40s, was declared dead at the scene.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into the death. No one else was hurt in the incident.

"The man's next of kin have been informed of his death and the area will remain cordoned off for some time whilst IPCC investigators undertake the scene management process.

"The investigation is in the very early stages and we are unable to provide further details at this time," a spokesperson from the Commission told The Daily Telegraph.

In a statement, the Cambridgeshire police said it would “not be appropriate to comment further.”
