Man dies after being seriously assaulted in Kirkintilloch flat

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of a man in Kirkintilloch.

Robert Cunningham, 29, was seriously assaulted within a flat in Braehead Street at around 8am on Saturday, 22 August.

He was taken to hospital following the incident where he died yesterday.

Two men, aged 31 and 28, have been charged in connection with the incident.

Detective Inspector Steven Watson, of Kirkintilloch CID, said: “Our thoughts are with Robert’s family and friends at this time.

“Following an investigation led by detectives, we were able to charge two men in connection with this incident.”

The two men are due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, 25 August).

A third man, aged 35, has also been arrested in connection with the incident.
