Man dies after being hit by train, police confirm

A man has died after being hit by a train, police have confirmed.

At 8.05pm on Friday (June 11) police were called by members of the public to Lincoln city centre who reported that a man had been struck by a train.

Emergency services attended the scene, close to the main train station, in response to this incident.

The man involved in this incident has been confirmed dead.

His death is currently not being treated as suspicious but a number of enquiries are ongoing in order to establish the exact circumstances involved, Lincolnshire Police said.

The force said it has already spoken to a number of people in the area who witnessed the incident but is aware that there are still a number of people yet to be spoken to.

The incident affected train services on the route through Nottingham.

Lincolnshire Police added: "There were a number of people in the area taking photographs of the scene and we ask that you are mindful of the sensitives of this incident and think carefully about how you might use or share those images.
