Man dies after being hit by train between Nottingham and Mansfield

Transport police have confirmed a man died after being hit by a train on the line between Nottingham and Mansfield.

Emergency services were called just after 3.40pm on Friday (April 23) after reports of a casualty on the tracks near Nottingham.

Paramedics arrived to provide first aid, however, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious, with a file being prepared for the coroner.

A spokesperson said: "British Transport Police were called to the line in Nottingham at 3.41pm on Friday, April 23, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

Trains on the Robin Hood Line between Mansfield and Nottingham were brought to a halt following the incident on Friday.

Services were disrupted with East Midlands Railway putting out a notice at about 4pm saying it expected delays until around 6.30pm.

A spokesperson for the railway provider said on Friday: "Sadly, a person has been hit by a train. This has occurred between Nottingham and Mansfield and is disrupting our trains on the Nottingham / Mansfield / Worksop route.

"At present emergency services are en-route to manage the incident. Network Rail have dispatched a team."
