Man dies after being hit by several cars while walking on busy motorway

A MAN tragically died after being hit by several cars while walking on the live lane of the M8 in Baillieston.

Police are appealing for information following the incident, which took place at around 8.45pm last night.

The as yet unidentified man was struck by the cars between the motorway's J7A and J8 and sadly died at the scene.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland of the Motherwell Road Policing Unit said: "We have yet to find out who the man is and also why he was walking on the carriageway.

"We are appealing to anyone who saw the incident happen, or to those who may have dash-cam footage and have not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

"The man is described as white, between 35 and 60 years of age, wearing a black Karrimor jacket, black jogging bottoms and black and grey Nike trainers.

"If you have any information about the crash or can assist with identifying the man, then please contact officers at Motherwell Road Policing Unit via 101.

"Please quote reference number 3302 of November 19 when calling."
