A man has died after being hit by a car while walking along the fast lane of the M61.
Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the fatal crash on Wednesday night.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was hit by a Mercedes A180 on the northbound carriageway close to Rivington services near Bolton at a 7.35pm.
Police say the Mercedes driver, who is being treated as a witness, suffered facial injuries.

The motorway was closed for six hours following the crash.
Sgt Marc Glass, of Lanc Police's serious collisions investigation unit, said: "This incident has resulted in a man sadly losing his life and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
"We are working to establish the full circumstances of how the collision occurred and I would ask any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage which could assist our investigation to contact the police."
