A pedestrian has died following a collision on the A189 Spine Road in Northumberland.
The 33-year-old man died at the scene of the crash which happened southbound between Bedlington station and Bebside.
Three ambulances and a rapid response paramedic were dispatched to the crash at around 8pm on Saturday, while there was also a large police presence.
His family have been contacted and are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
An investigation into the incident was subsequently launched and a 30-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
She has since been released under investigation.
Northumbria Police officers are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, and are especially keen on hearing from any motorists who were in the area at the time and who might have dashcam footage.
Sergeant Ray Lowery from the Force’s Motor Patrols said: “This was a tragic incident in which a pedestrian has sadly lost his life and our thoughts go out to his loved ones at this difficult time.
“As part of our ongoing investigation we are trying to establish a clear picture of what happened in the moments leading up to this collision.
“I would urge anyone who was in the area of the A189 Spine Road near Bedlington Station and may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
“Additionally, any motorists travelling on that same stretch of road who have dash-cam fitted are also asked to get in touch.”
