Man dies after being hit by a van in Wexford as gardai launch investigation

A man has died after being hit by a van in Wexford.

The fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a van happened on the N25 at Killinick shortly after 5pm yesterday.

The man, aged in his 80s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Gardai say no other injuries were reported and their investigation is ongoing.

They have issued an appeal for witnesses to contact them.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N25 at Killinick, Co.Wexford yesterday evening, Friday, 16th December 2022.

“The collision occurred shortly after 5pm, involving a male pedestrian and a van. The pedestrian, a man aged in his 80s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries. No other injuries have been reported.

“A technical examination of the scene has since been completed. Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to gardai.”
