Man dies after being hit by a car in Dunfermline town centre as police seek witnesses

A 33-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in Dunfermline town centre.

The incident happened at around 9.50pm last night (Wednesday) close to St Margaret Street car park 2. Police say the driver, in a white Mercedes Benz-A-Class, drove out of the car park and on to St Margaret Street where the collision happened.

The driver stopped and emergency services rushed to the scene, however the pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead.

Police are now looking to speak to witnesses, including one person who spoke to the driver just after the incident happened.

Sergeant Nicola Young of the road policing unit said: "We're appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this to contact us.

"We're also specifically appealing to a person who spoke to the driver just after the incident happened."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3744 of 19 February.
