Man dies after being hit by a car in Bolton

An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in Bolton.

Police were called to Market Street in Little Lever at around 7.50pm on Friday, January 24, to reports that a car had been in a collision with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian - 79-year-old Kenneth Magill from the Little Lever area - sustained serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital but has since sadly died.

The driver of the blue VW Golf car involved in the collision remained at the scene.

They are assisting police with the investigation.

No arrests have yet been made.

GMP are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward who have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Sergeant Matthew Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Unfortunately, our investigators are now dealing with a fatal collision.

“We are deeply saddened by Kenneth’s death and our thoughts are with his family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.   

“We are committed to giving them the answers they deserve and would appeal again for anyone with information, who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage to come forward.”
