A man found with a gunshot wound at a home in St Helens has died.
Emergency services were called to an address in the Thatto Heath area due to concerns for the safety of a male.
Following their arrival the man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital after being discovered in a critical condition.
Merseyside Police has now confirmed the man has died.
The incident, which happened on Freemantle Street on the afternoon of Friday, January 17, is not being treated as suspicious and officers are not looking for anyone in connection with the man's death.
His family are being supported by specially trained police officers.
A post mortem is now set to be carried out to establish the cause of death and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
