Man dies after being found seriously injured on Duke Street

A man has died after being found seriously injured on Duke Street in the early hours of this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the east end scene at around 6.45am.

Police Scotland confirmed that the man, who is thought to be in his 20s, was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but sadly died shortly afterwards.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, while enquiries are ongoing.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 6.45 am this morning, Wednesday, 1 July, 2020, a man, thought to be in his 20s, was found seriously injured on Duke Street, near to Hunter Street, Glasgow.

"He was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died a short time later."

A stretch of Duke Street between John Knox Street and Bellgrove Street remains closed, Glasgow City Council earlier confirmed.

The statement said: "Due to a Police incident, Duke Street is closed between John Knox Street and Bellgrove Street."

First Glasgow have also confirmed that buses for the services 41 and 90 have been diverted away from the road.
