Man dies after being found injured in Ayr street as cops probe 'unexplained' death

A probe has been launched into the 'unexplained' death of a man in Ayr.

The 47-year-old was found injured in the town's Walker Road at around 12.40pm yesterday.

Emergency services raced to the scene and he was taken by ambulance to Ayr hospital.

But despite efforts of medics he died a short time later.

Cops are treating the death as 'unexplained' and have urged anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Craig Semple said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this death.

"A post mortem examination will be held in due course, however meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.

“A number of people went to assist the injured man on Walker Road, Ayr and I would ask anyone who assisted who has not yet spoken to police to please contact officers.

“Anyone with information that may assist our ongoing enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 2161 of 25 October.”
