Man dies after being found in water off Welsh coast

A 72-year-old man has died after being found unresponsive in the water off the Welsh coast.

Emergency services were called to the Morfa Nefyn area of the Llyn Peninsula in Gwynedd at 5.21pm on Wednesday after reports of the man being spotted in the water.

The air ambulance also attended the incident and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the man's death is not being treated as suspicious, North Wales Live reports.

No further details about the identity of the man have been released at this stage.

A police spokesman said: "We received a call at 5.21pm yesterday (Wednesday) from colleagues at HM Coastguard requesting assistance after a 72 year old man had been located unresponsive in the water at Morfa Nefyn.

"The air ambulance also attended, who sadly confirmed the man had died.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious, and the local coroner’s office have been informed."
